Exciting developments are unfolding throughout Independence as we continue to invest in upgrades that enhance safety, comfort, and community life. From traffic updates and park improvements to lighting installations and new amenities, these enhancements showcase our ongoing dedication to building a neighborhood that residents are proud to call home. Here’s a closer look at what’s new and what’s coming soon:
Construction Traffic Updates
You may have noticed new speed limit signs appearing in Districts 2 and 4. These signs indicate the correct 25-mile-per-hour speed limit and are currently awaiting installation by WW Clyde.
We appreciate your patience as we work to manage construction traffic throughout the community. In the meantime, please do your part to slow down and help keep our streets safe for neighbors, families, and pets.
Trenton Park (Filing 3) Improvements
Thank you for your patience during the temporary removal of the swings due to a recall. We’re happy to share that replacement swings have now been installed and are open and safe for use.
Please note that newly planted areas will stay closed until spring to give the plants time to establish roots. The playground structures and picnic area, however, are fully open and ready for your use and enjoyment.
Independence Dog Park Enhancements
The Independence Dog Park is now fully open after the completion of the remaining improvements by ELCI. The refreshed space includes:
- New pet play equipment
- Stone slab benches
- A shade structure
- Tables and benches are installed in permanent locations
Additional enhancements completed this past summer include planting a dozen young trees for future shade, refreshing landscape beds with colorful plantings, reconfiguring the parking lot, and adding an exterior walking path that allows owners to stay active while their dogs play.
As you enjoy the park, please be considerate of fellow residents and their pets. Friendly reminder to clean up after your dogs to help keep the space welcoming for everyone!
Streetlight Installation Nearing Completion
Streetlight installation throughout the community is almost complete. Work began along Delbert Road, continued to Hancock, and extended into Filings 2, 3, and 4. At this time, all streetlights have been installed.
Additional lighting updates include:
- Mailbox lights installed in District 2, with inspections completed, and new lamps will be added as needed.
- Mailbox lighting for District 4 is scheduled for installation in Q2 2026.
These improvements enhance visibility, safety, and peace of mind throughout the neighborhood.
Open Space Improvements
You may have noticed recent improvements in the open space north of Hancock and east of Congress Lane. These updates are now finished, including the installation of a new shade and wind barrier structure.
This newly upgraded gathering space was created for residents to relax, connect, and enjoy the natural beauty around them. We’re proud of how it turned out, and we hope you love it too!
More Improvements Coming Soon
We’re not done yet. Additional enhancements are on the horizon, including:
- New community entry enhancements
- Shade solutions
- Food truck lot improvements
- Website updates and a new resident portal
Our community continues to grow and improve with thoughtful updates aimed at enhancing daily living.
